Are Muslims Blind to the Truth?

Qur’aanic Verse 13.19:

13.19

Transliteration:

19. Afaman yaAAlamu annama onzila ilayka min rabbika alhaqqu kaman huwa aAAma innama yatathakkaru oloo al-albabi

Translation:

19. Is he who knows that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, then, like him who is blind? 12 Only those with understanding will ponder on this,

Study Note:

 12. Every Muslim of today should honestly ponder whether he himself deserves to be included in the first category of people who know. Or is he liable to be included in the second category of those who are blind? The Muslim could deserve inclusion in the first category if, and only if, he believes that everything stated in the Qur’aan is the Truth and nothing but the Truth. But, does he? Let us take one example – one among many. The Qur’aan repeatedly asserts that it explains clearly everything that Allah asks man to follow or abide by. Allah has categorically prohibited Ar-Riba. This is an injunction that man has rigorously to follow. Otherwise, the Qur’aan asserts, he is at war with Allah! And, as per the earlier stated Qur’aanic assertion, the term Ar-Riba is clearly explained in the Qur’aan itself. But most Muslims, including well-known Islamic scholars, blasphemously believe that Ar-Riba is not explained in the Qur’aan!! The scholars are therefore busy giving their own definitions of the Qur’aanic term!!!

The above is an extract from Qur’aanic Studies Manzil III, which will soon, inshaAllah, be published on Amazon Kindle. Manzil I & Mabzil II of the series are already published.

  1. Brother Shafi,
I would like to know the difference between Ar Riba and Fa’eda. Can you explain .

    • Ar-Riba is that increase/gain that is abhorred in Verse 30:39. Other lawful & reasonable gains through business or service are permitted in terms of 2:275.

  2. can you shed more light on the subject dear scholar?

“where the term Ar-Riba is clearly explained in the Qur’aan itself. But most Muslims, including well-known Islamic scholars, blasphemously believe that Ar-Riba is not explained in the Qur’aan”

    1) Where the term is explained
    2) Which well known islamic scholars “blasphemously” believes that it is not explained in quraan.. and reject those verses..

come on lets do it for the sake of truth ..

    Mohammad Shafi responds:
    1) Ar-Riba is the riba that Allah Ta’ala abhors in Verse 30.39.
    2) Name those scholars that say Ar-Riba is so defined in the Qur’aan. The others blaspheme, because they contradict Qur’aanic assertion that every necessary thing is explained in the Book itself.

    • Ar-Riba is the riba abhorred by Allah Ta’ala in Verse 30:39. Now tell me the names of those Islamic scholars who say that the term is well-explained in the Qur’aan. The others blaspheme.

      • Vow, re-frame the question and people are stuck. I think people should spend more time on The Quran than on other books.

      • Those who do not believe that the Qur’aan contains all necessary details for leading a righteous life are blind.
