Obey the Messenger

Qur’aanic Verse 3.132:

2.132

Transliteration:

132. WaateeAAoo Allaha waalrrasoola laAAallakum turhamoona

Translation:

132. And obey Allah and the Messenger so that Mercy is bestowed upon you.144 to 146

Study Notes:

144. This Qur’aanic directive to obey the Messenger is grossly misunderstood. The Messenger is no longer living in this world, and there is no question of his issuing any directives now in person, which could be obeyed. The directives he had issued, while he was living, under Allah’s guidance are most authentically incorporated in the Qur’aan. So when the believers obey the directives in the Qur’aan, they in effect obey both Allah and His Messenger. But a majority of the Muslims now say that obeying the Qur’aanic directives alone wouldn’t be akin to obeying the Messenger. He (the Messenger), they insist, had issued some detailed instructions for practical implementation of the divine directives in the Qur’aan. These practical instructions, they say, are contained in the ahaadeeth. According to these Muslims, then, the divinely approved Religion of Islam is not complete and perfect without the ahaadeeth!

145. The majority contention of the present-day Muslims as above, clearly contradicts many Qur’aanic statements like those quoted below:

  • “…We have missed nothing in the Book…” [Verse 6.38]

  • “…It is not a concocted hadeeth but a confirmation of what preceded it and a detailed explanation of everything and a guide and a mercy for the people who believe.” [Verse 12.111]

The Muslim contention in fact betrays their lack of belief in the Qur’aan.

146. It is an accepted fact that the ahaadeeth contain many contradictions. And in the light of the divine criterion laid down in Verse 4.82, such writings cannot be from Allah. So by treating these non-divine writings at par with the divine Verses of the Qur’aan, the Muslims are committing the unpardonable sin of shirk. Nay, they are committing a sin worse than shirk. They are rejecting the divine Verses which say that everything is explained in the Qur’aan, and they seek the explanation instead in the error-prone, man-influenced ahaadeeth. They, in effect, believe in men narrating the ahaadeeth to the recorders, hundreds of years after the death of the Prophet. But they do not believe in Allah!! May the GhafoorurRaheem make them realise, before it becomes too late, that they are, by doing so, inexorably hurtling themselves into a painful doom.

  1. Yes I fully agree with you and this is the point from where most of muslim misunderstood quranic ahkaam

  2. The command to obey the Messenger was in reference to Battle of Uhod where he stood steadfastly against all odds while many others failed to stay at their posts or scared of the enemy. Lesson there is to be steadfast in defending yourselves.

Otherwise, how to obey a Messenger who is no longer with us. It would make sense to those present with him but us? Obedience, after the Messenger may also mean to be law abiding citizens and obey those we elect to be incharge and those who are appointed to run the affairs of the community and state so far as they rule by law. If they don’t, then we could seek reform through the courts or parliament.

  3. The rule/argument

The Messenger is no longer living in this world, and there is no question of his issuing any directives now in person, which could be obeyed.

This argument is not usefull, infact in this context it is wrong.

    Mohammad Shafi responds:
    RL has not explained why.

Secondly, the contradiction in Hadith is misunderstood. Most of the people don’t know what does contradiction means, and rest don’t know that in first two level of ahadith (Mutwatir and Mashoor) there is no contradiction, and about third category (Khabr-e-wahid) in which there sometimes seems a contradiction those are not assumed at the level of Quran and if someone leave following them with reasonable rules/reason he is still 100% right muslim according to Ehl-e-Sunnat-wal-Jamaat.

So, Ehl-e-Sunnat-wal-jamaat don’t say that a person narrate with name of Rasool(saw) and now it is obligatory to follow, this concept is wrong and anyone who have this concept is ignorant. Fact is that Hadith is examined with proper rules and then followed.

    Mohammad Shafi responds:
The only rule to follow is to examine a hadeeth on the touchstone of the Qur’aan. If the hadeeth fails the test, reject it.

  4. The explanation of the Divine command “Obey Allah and obey the Messenger” by br. M. Shafi is the morst correct interpretation of this all-important command that is HUGELY misunderstood by 1.5 billion “Muslims” today. Unfotunately, the Muslims have been, and still are, looking for the Light and Guidance in all the wrong places when they have Light and Guidance right in front of them. The Muslims, once great nation, are stuck in the marshland of all sorts of hearsay stories; they are so deaf that they can’t hear the call of the Truth that is close to them than their jugular veins. This are created duality in the Divine Order and hence are mired in clear Shirk. How unfortunate can the state of affairs be for them?

Will they come back to the Truth after chasing Falsehood? The look is dismal but Allah can work miracles.

  5. Comments of Mr. Faiz are not addressing even a single technical point, and it is simple effort of cursing people just to satisfy some personal thoughts.
Denying 1.5 million people need some black and white proof.
Interpretation of Mr. Shafi is different then what is directly understood from aayat, and there is no room to accept interpretation leaving Quran itself, infact accepting interpretation leaving Quran is root of all falsehood.
I will not leave Quran in favour of someone’s interpretation, if you want to do it is your fate.
    Regards,
    Humayun.

    • HR has not explained why he thinks my comments are contrary to what is directly understood from the Verse in question.

      • From aayat it is clear that obey Allah(swt) (in this context Quran) and Rasool(saw) (in this context Sunnah), while interpretation of Mr. Shafi is trying to say that obeying Sunnah is not possible now so obey only Quran – hence this aayat is not possible to follow now.

        Mohammad Shafi responds:
The Qur’aanic Verse is very much possible to be followed now. All the authentic sayings of the Prophet are incorporated in the Qur’aan. So follow the Qur’aan, and you follow thereby the Verse.

Why Allah(swt) is saying to you and me that follow Rasool? Did Allah(swt) not know that Sunnah will not remain safe so why to order like this at many places?

        Mohammad Shafi responds:
At the time the Verses directing believers to follow the Messenger were revealed, the Qur’aan was not complete. Without this divine instruction to obey the Messenger, how could the believers then obey new divine directions to them, which were converyed to them only though the medium of the Messenger?

Sahabah(ra) followed Quran and Sunnah, they told all things to next generation and they followed, and then generation to generation with authentic sources things are reaching to us and are in practice since start, and now you are saying we don’t follow that?

How can you be sure the sources are authentic. Remember the ahaadeeth were written hundreds of years after the death of the Prophet. They were till then only orally transmitted. An orally transmitted message gets altered within minutes. Allah has guaranteed incorruptibility of the Qur’aan and not of the ahaadeeth.

I am sure about a thing it is said/did by Rasool(saw) and you are saying me to not follow that, how you say you are allowing me to follow this order of Quran?
So, this aayat clearly means that if you are sure about a thing that it is ordered by Allah and Rasool then follow it, now it is my duty to be sure that whether it is said by Rasool(saw) or not, if I am sure then no one has authority to stop me from following that and if he is doing so he is disobeying this aayat.

You can be sure about the Qur’aan, because it is Allah-protected. You cannot be sure about the ahaadeeth, because they are not Allah-protected.

        Regards,
        Humayun.

  6. The reference qouted is 3/132 but not 2/132

    Exposition:-
And obey Allah through the Messenger( who has brought the revealed natural code of life before you) so that Mercy is bestowed upon you.

Here Wau has the meaning of THROUGH. It is not always the meaning of and.

More over I fully agree with the concept you have mentioned. If whole the Muslim come under the umbrella of only Quran will rectify the sects issues.

    • I am sorry for the mistake. Needed correction is done. Thanks & Allah bless you.

  7. Any Hadith contradicting Quran
It is the sentence using which people reject an authentic hadith, not because hadith is contradicting but these people apparently create a contradiction by adding their own explanation and interpretation and then reject hadith.
A hadith is contraditing or not, it is task of some person having proper knowledge, not just you read translation of aayat and hadith and say it is contradicting.
The argument that oral message get changed and this argument applied to Hadith is wrong argument and it is based on incomplete information about Hadith and Hadith narrators.
    Regards,
    Humayun.

    • Your comments carry no weight since those are not based on the Qur’aan, the only Allah-given & Allah-protected Furqan (criterion) for distinguishing the right from the wrong. I refuse to respond to you henceforth if you refuse to rely on this divine criterion.

      • Those who do effort in our way we show them our path. Ankuboot:69
So I am always in effort of finding the way Holy Prophet(saw) lived the life and Allah(swt) help me in successfully finding that.
When I find a Sunnah I follow that as ordered by Quran in many places, one of them you mentioned at top of the page.
        Regards,
        Humayun.

  8. May I ask our friends which Book did Allah SWT made the Messenger leave behind, written down on parchment by noble scribes?

Did the four Khulafa e Rashideen made any efforts to collect the sayings of the Messenger? Why not? They were smart enough to know what happens to oral traditions verbally transmitted over time, did they not?

Which Hadees books are better, Shia collection or Sunni collection? Why one not the other? Did the four

    • You prove Quran while there is no two saying about it, your problem is that you deny Hadith, so remain to the point.
Yes, Khulafa-e-Rashideen(ra) wrote ahadith and used to write ahadith to other Sahabah(ra). When they write order to their Governers they specifically mention order of Rasool(saw) along with. When Qazi do some judgement and give verdict he mention Sunnah along with.
Many Sahabah(ra), when there is some gathering, they narrate Sunnah and people wrote that.
You even don’t know these facts because you are blind follower of someone.
About Shia Hadith and Sunni Hadith I have told you may times but it is height of stubborness you don’t read reply. Which Quran you follow Sunni Quran or Shia Quran? You even don’t know that Shia believe that this Quran is not the same the revealed. With your this ignorance you are propagating your personal thoughts. You unintentionally following Sunni Quran but when it comes to Hadith you quote a false argument.

      Regards,
      Humayun.

      • I am a blind follower of Allah Almighty, and none else.

85 Muslim 882 A’isha may have let a puppy into her house. The Prophet made her put it out. Gabriel came and said: “It was the dog in your house which prevented me from coming, for we angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture.” The Prophet said: “Those who paint pictures would be punished on the Day of Resurrection and it would be said to them: ‘Breathe soul into what you have created'”. The commentator says that an artist wishes to rival the creator or to create something to worship? Even photographs or statues are not exempted from this stricture and yet we all have seen photographs of the Ayatollah and of martyrs in that most Islamic of countries, Iran.

86 Muslim 927 The Prophet said: “Nigella seed is a remedy for every disease except death.”

87 Muslim 935 The Prophet said: “Kill the snakes having stripes over them and short-tailed snakes for they cause miscarriage of a pregnant woman and adversely affect the eyesight.” He forbade the killing of domestic snakes. This only applies to Medina where some of the jinns have embraced Islam and have taken the form of house snakes.

88 Muslim 946 The Prophet said: “He who played chess is like one who dyed his hand with the flesh and blood of swine.”

89 Muslim 1176 The Prophet said: “Every person in Paradise will have two wives.” Also: He said: “Those who get into Paradise will have their faces as bright as stars in the sky”. They will neither pass water, nor void excrement, nor will they suffer from catarrh, nor will they spit, and their combs would be made of gold, and their sweat will be musk, the fuel of their brazier will be aloes, and their wives will be large-eyed maidens and their form would be alike as one single person after the form of Adam sixty cubits tall.”

90 Muslim 1177 The Prophet said: “In Paradise there would be no dissension between the two wives and no enmity in their hearts.” When questioned about what would happen to the food if there was no defecating, the Prophet said that their eating would be digested in the form of belching.

91 Muslim 1187 The Prophet said: “When the dead body is placed in the grave, he listens to the sound of the shoes as his friends and relatives walk after burying him.” He heard a sound and said “It is the Jews who are being tormented in their graves.” “The souls of unbelievers are cursed and have a foul smell. The dead bodies of the unbelievers at Badr were left unburied for three days and then thrown in the well.”

92 Muslim 1226 The Prophet said: “When you yawn, you should try to restrain it with your hand to prevent Satan entering therein.”

93 Muslim 1227 The Prophet said: “A group of the Children of Israel was lost. I think that they turned into the shape of rats.”

96 Hadith Malik 330:1113 The Prophet said: “When anyone of you marries a woman or buys a slave-girl, he should hold her forehead and pray for bliss, and when you buy a camel, put your hand on its hump and seek refuge from the evil of the cursed Satan.”

97 Hadith Malik 361:1216 When the master or husband of a slave-girl dies, her iddah (period of waiting to remarry) is two months and five days. (Completely against the Quran 2:228, 2:234)

98 Hadith Malik 364:1234 If a woman suckles a baby she becomes its foster mother and her husband a foster father. If a man has two wives and one suckles a boy and the other a girl, the boy cannot marry the girl as the foster father of each is the same. (On the other hand purdah is not necessary with foster relations). (Some of the ulama say that that suckling ten times is needed to establish a foster-relationship.)

99 Hadith Malik 365:1245 A man said: “My wife has wilfully given my slavegirl with whom I used to cohabit her own milk to drink. What is my relationship to my slave-girl?” Omar said: “Punish your wife and go into your slave-girl.”

100 Hadith Malik 366:1246 The Prophet said: “I had intended to prohibit the father from going into the mother while she breast-feeds her infant, but I came to know that the people of Rome and Persia did so without it affecting the offspring.”

104 Hadith Malik 539:1681 The Prophet used to wear a gold ring. One day he threw it away; the people also threw their gold rings away. He had a silver ring made for him. The people followed suit. (Completely against the Quran 7:32, 5:87, 6:140, 6:151, 7:157)

105 Hadith Malik 542:1687 There was a child crying in the house and the Prophet was told that it was affected by the evil eye. He told them to exorcise it. (Completely against the Quran 6:137, 6:140, 6:151)

112 Mishkat 117 Khadijah asked Muhammad about her children who had died in the days of ignorance. He replied that they were in Hell fire. When he saw the disgust on his wife’s face he said that if she were to see their station (sic?) she would hate them.

113 Mishkat 122 It is narrated by Ubayy that the spirit of Jesus entered Mary by her mouth. (Completely against the Quran 3:47, 19:21,66:12)

114 Mishkat 134 The Prophet said: “There dominate ninety-nine dragons over the unbeliever in the grave. They constantly bite him and sting him till there comes the Hour of Resurrection. These dragons are so poisonous that if one of them exhales in the earth, no vegetation would ever grow upon it.” (Completely against the Quran 36:52 )

115 Mishkat 306 The Prophet said that anyone feeling something in his intestines should not leave the mosque unless he hears the noise of windbreak or senses its smell. (Completely against the Quran 5:6)

117 Mishkat 455 Anas reported that Muhammad used to have sexual intercourse with his wives with a single bath. (He simply performed ablution between each act and took a bath at the end.) But Mishkat 470 Abu Rafi, slave of Muhammad, reported that one day the Prophet went through his wives taking a bath after intercourse with each. (Completely against the Quran 4:60, 4:82)

118 Mishkat 489 Umar (the second caliph) said: “Do not take a bath in water exposed to the sun, for it results in leprosy.”

119 Mishkat 520 The Prophet commanded that when traveling we should not take off our shoes for three days and three nights, except in the case of seminal emission and not to do so because of easing ourselves, urinating or sleeping.

Half a dinar when the blood is somewhat yellow and one dinar if the blood is completely red.” (Completely against the Quran 2:222) (see hadith no 42 & 43)

121 Bukhari & Muslim (Alfahim 169) The Prophet said: “Fever comes from the vehement raging of Hell, so cool it with water.”

121 (B) Hadith mentions that “fever” is from the “heat of hell” [Hadith 621,622, page 417, vol 7].

122 Hadith Qudsi 10:3 (Ahmdd etal) The Prophet said that, on the Judgment Day, those who know their Qur’an will be asked to recite it slowly and steadily. At the end of each verse (6236 verses) he will rise higher in Paradise.

123 Hadith Qudsi 14:1 “Laa ilaha il-lallah wala haula wala guwwata illa billah.” The Prophet says that if a patient recites the above holy words during his sickness and dies, fire will not burn him.

127 Hadith Qudsi 30:10 (Khateeb) The Prophet said that the horses in Paradise will not need to pass urine or dung. They will have wings.

128 Hadith Qudsi 33:39 (Ibne Asakar) The Prophet said that Allah told Adam that He would not have created him if He had not intended to create Muhammad. (Completely against the Quran 2:136, 3:84)

129 Bukhari 4:52:192 Ali, his son-in-law, had eye trouble. The Prophet spat in his eyes and Ali was cured.

130 Bukhari 5:59:447 The Prophet said to Sa’d, :The Bani Quraiza have agreed to accept your verdict”

131 Sa’d said, “Kill all their men and take their women and children as slaves” The Prophet replied, “You have judged according to God’s Judgment” (Completely against the Quran 68:4, 73:10)

132 Bukhari 8:82:794 The Prophet ordered that the renegades’ eyes be branded with heated pieces of iron and that their cut hands and legs should not be cauterized (8:82:796) … and when they asked fir water to drink they were not given it.” (Completely against the Quran 68:4)

133 Abu Dawud (38:4396) A thief was brought to the Prophet four times and his punishments were amputations of the right hand, the left foot, the left hand and then the right foot On the fifth occasion the Prophet had him killed “We then dragged him and cast him into a well and threw stones over him.” (Completely against the Quran 5:38)

134 Abu Dawud (38:4397) On another occasion, the Prophet ordered that the thief’s hand be hung on his neck

135 Abu Dawud (38:4449) If anyone has sexual intercourse with an animal, kill him and kill it along with him.” Ibn Abbas asked the Prophet, “What offence can be atttributed to the animal?” The Prophet disapproved of its flesh being eaten when such a thing had been done to it

“Amacam, kita sambung lagi. Nah, lihat pula pada hadis-hadis ini”. Kata ku lagi.

    137. The prophet according to Bukhari in one of the narration tells his companion Abu-Dharr Ghafari that the sun goes around the earth, in the apparent description that he gives (Hadith 421, pg. 283, vol. 4 of M.Muhsin Khan’s translation of Sahih Bukhari). (Completely against the Quran 13:2, 14:33, 21:33, 31:29 35:13, 36:40)

    138. According to Hadith no disease is contagious [Adwa]. This as we all know is inaccurate. What about the common cold and viruses like Ebola etc. [Hadith 649, page 435, volume7]

    139. Books of Hadith contain many home-remedies, according to ideas prevalent at that time, which are scientifically absurd. The Hadith mentions there being a cure for every ailment in black cumin seed [Hadith 591, pg.400, vol 7].

    140. The famous Hadith about the fly: “If a fly falls into the vessel of any of you, let him dip all of it (in the vessel) and then throw it away [and use the material in the vessel], for in one of its wings there is a disease and in the other there is a healing [Bukhari, Hadith 673, pg. 452, vol 7]

    141. According to Hanbal 6/136, 192,213, the prophet “Never urinated in a standing position.” However Bukhari in his “authentic” book of Hadith says that the prophet indeed urinated in a standing position. (Bukhari 4/60-64) (Quran 4:82)

    142. The Quran commands believers not to make any distinction between any of God’s messengers (Quran 2:285 and many other places), yet according to Bukhari’s books of Hadith (Bukhari 97/36), the prophet contradicted the Quran saying that he was the “most honorable” among all the messengers. Not only this, the books of Bukhari make the prophet even contradict himself by saying in a different Hadith (Bukhari 65/4,6 and Hanbal 1/205,242,440) that we should not make any distinction between the messengers and that he was not better than even Yunus. Could the prophet have contradicted the Quran? Could the prophet of Allah have contradicted himself? The books of Hadith in fact insult the prophet by attributing to him things he never said or did.

    143. A woman is called bad luck in the haidth (Bukhari 76/53). Also, according to the collection of Muslim (Sahih Muslim), most of the people in hell were of the feminine gender! According to Bukhari, “Women are naturally, morally and religiously defective.

    144. The Quran describes accurately, the shape of the earth as being rounded (Quran 39:5), and the cause of night and day as being the rotation of the earth. The Hadith and similar writings however contain mythological concepts, which are then by hook or by crook attributed to the prophet. The most famous commentary of the Quran, that by Ibn Kathir (2/29 and 50/1) makes extensive use of the Hadith as explaining the Quran. In that spirit, Ibn Kathir suggests that the earth is “carried on a giant bull.” When the bull shakes its head, an earthquake results. As stated earlier, Bukhari’s book of Hadith states that the sun revolves around the earth. (Quran 4:82)

    145. According to Hanbal 4/85, 5/54, the prophet ordered that all black dogs be killed because they were devils. Inspired by that Hadith so called “Muslims” kill hundreds of dogs all over the world and consider them unclean. The Quran, on the other hand talks about the sleepers in the cave (Sura 18) as having a dog, inside their dwelling place and allows meat killed by hunting dogs. There is nothing in the Quran, which even remotely suggests that dogs are unclean as pets. Indeed the Quran states that God has subjected animals to be of use to humankind.

    146. The Quran states that,” Vision cannot comprehend God, who comprehends all vision,” yet the Hadith of Bukhari 97/24 and 10/129 says that to prove his identity to Muhammed, God showed the prophet his thigh. (Completely against the Quran 7:143)

    147. The Quran states that God is the protector of true believers, yet the Hadith states that the prophet was bewitched by a Jew and for many days, he didn’t know what he was doing (Bukhari 59/11, 76/47; Hanbal 6/57 and 4/367). This Hadith goes completely against the Quran, which counters in many places the claim of the unbelievers that the prophet was bewitched.

    149. The Quran talks of itself as being the only message that God intended the prophet to convey (Quran 42:52 14:52 69:44 6:19 etc.). The Hadith of Muslim quotes the prophet as saying (Muslim, Zuhd 72, Hanbal 3/12,21,39) that no one should write anything from him other than the Quran. This particular Hadith is in harmony with the Quran, but then another Hadith contradicts not only the Quran but this Hadith. The prophet is quoted as asking, in Hanbal 2/162, Amr bin As, his companion to write everything he spoke.

    150. The Quran states that those who forbid things even though God has allowed them, are committing a great sin. Yet the followers of Hadith have forbidden (haraam) the use of silk and gold by men, even though Allah never forbade these in the Quran. Contrary to that Allah specifically allows them (Quran 7:30-32 42:21 22:23 35:33). The Hadith in keeping with its reputation of contradictions, even contradicts this forbidding law by stating that the prophet allowed a “gold ring” to be worn by one of his companions and forbade the others! Could the prophet have invented laws not in the Quran? Could he then have been partial in implementing those laws?

    • Could not understand why you copy pasted all this? If I could understand then I need;
1- Please define what does contradiction means?
2- With each hadith mention the part of Quran it is contradicting?
      Regards,
      Humayun.

  10. “And obey Allah and the Messenger ”
    Which messenger we should follow?
If we it means only Hadid of Mohammed, we are making a distinction among God’s messengers
[2:136] “Say, “We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and in what was given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters.”
Now We are getting the message of Allah through Quran only
So now Quran is the living messenger

  11. You don’t know what is difference between ‘messenger’ and ‘the messenger’.
Every last messenger has to be followed, this is common sense.
    Regards,
    Humayun.

    • Yes the message given by the last prophet is Quran and
[69:44] Had he uttered any other teachings ?

[6:114] Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?* Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt

      • Yes, Quran, and following the Sunnah is ordered in Quran.
        Regards,
        Humayun.

      • Produce evidence.

      • There are many evidence, some aayaat telling this rule are;

        وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلاَّ لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ اللّهِ النساء؛٦٤
We have not sent from Prophets except he should be followed (it is) with the will of Allah(swt).

whatever Rasool give to you take that and from which he stops so stop from that and fear from Allah…

        رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنزَلَتْ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ ال عمران؛٥٣
O our lord, we believe what you have revealed and we followed Prophet so write our names in accepters.
So, to be a muslim one has to believe on the book and to follow Rasool(saw).

He who follows Rasool infact follow Allah …

Only thing is that, I try to find Sunnah while other friends are lazy and sit back and relax by saying ‘there is no authentic hadith.’

        Regards,
        Humayun.

      • All these are evidences of divine directives for believers to obey the Prophet while he was living among the people in this world, *and not the hearsays recorded hundreds of years after his death*.

      • It is just your thought that ahadith are hearsay stories, Quran doesn’t support your both arguments;
1- Ahadith will not propagate to next generations.
2- These orders were till life of Rasool(saw) only.
Quran is ordering me/you to follow Rasool(saw), now it is my/your duty to spend some effort to find Sunnah (people in first three centuries spent their lives to do all this for us), and I am Alhamd-o-lillah somewhat successful in this way.
Your Nafs is finding easy way (by saying it hearsay) and ordering you to not do effort in the way of Allah(swt) to find Sunnah of His Rasool, it is your personal thought not order of Islam, and you are trying to change Islamic order according to your will, while rule is to change will according to Islam.
Moreover ‘hudereds’ is a lie you are propagating without confirming just to meet your agenda.
        Regards,
        Humayun.

        Mohammad Shafi responds:
Allah knows best who it is that is lying. I have said all that I had to say in this matter. I leave it to Allah’s final judgment. Lakum deenukum waliya deen, Brother! I consider it useless to continue this dialogue with You.

  12. Mr Humayun, did the Khulafa e Rashidoon compile a multi volume collection of Ahadees as Bukhari and Co. did? NO? Why not? Were they not smart enough to know what happens to oral narrations over time? Not one of them thought it proper to do it?

According to ahadees you believe, Umer RA said “Qur’an is enough for us”. He was not corrected by the exalted Messenger. Why not? Was this not a issue that should have been corrected right there and then?

    That, Sir is the issue.

Shia collections and Sunni collections differ on major issues like Imamat and other matters. Which one do you follow? Why one and not the other?

    • Brother you are stuck with specific book names. You know we still quote hadith with sanad (chain of narrators), like you just write question to any Dar-ul-Ifta and he will send you his sanad that who narrated hadith.

      They wrote Quran because;
1- Quran had to be in same sequence in which it should be because it has to be recited and one of it’s mandatory part is it to be same like it is in Loh-e-Mehfooz, that’s why about each aayat Prophet(saw) told that it is before that and that aayat.
2- Different Arabs started reciting in different way, so to solve this issue it was important to share written form. If you have read this history you should know that how all this matter instantiated in the time of Usman(ra) and then he published Quran.

In start of Islam sometimes they stoped so that people don’t mix Quran with Hadith because there is difference, like Quran can be recited in prayer not hadith, similarly denying even one aayat or word of Quran is Kufr while denying Hadith-e-Wahid is not Kufr, so Prophet(saw) and Sahabah(ra) in early time discouraged to write down hadith so that some simple Sahabah(ra) don’t mix one type of Wahi(Kalam-e-Rasool) with other(Kalamullah). At the other hand there are several narrations that told that ahadith were written even in the time of Prophet(saw), like He(saw) ordered to wrote many Sunnah for the literate people who came from far away to learn so that they can teach to their people, similarly Prophet(saw) ordered to wrote details about some governing matters to some of the governers so that they can give Fatwa for their city and decide matters among people, and it is agreed upon fact that the writings were not Quran.

OK, but later on when Quran was published after 25th Hijri then no one stoped to write hadith and then the era started at end of which i.e. end of first century books started coming with compiled chapters.
      Why Sahabah(ra) not collected in volumes, it is simple;
1- There was no concept of writing books in Arabs.
2- Sahabah(ra) didn’t need to write, like you know your father/mother/brother/etc very well, even more then what you can write in compiled book. If you tell all about them to you child and he write down, now it will not make that book false by argument that why you yourself not write down about your parents.

One more fact should not be ignored that it is found in several in fact numerious narration and if you read history you will find it as a fact that people from different areas come to Sahabah(ra) and write down ahadith of their concern, like some had concern about Hujj, some about Marriage system some about business type etc. They wrote down but ofcourse never published. So after them Taba-tabaein(ra) collected those writings and started publishing in volumes.

About Shia and Sunni I have already replied.

      Regards,
      Humayun.

      • Whatever you may write, the Qur’aan is a self-sufficient Guide-book for me to conduct my life.

    • Jazak Allahu khairan.

  13. Mr.Humayun Rasheed,

You wrote ” Yes, Quran, and following the Sunnah is ordered in Quran.”
    Can you quote the verses?

“You will find that the Sunna of Allah is the only Sunna” (33:62….35:43…..48:23)

Both the words Hadith & Sunnah are in the Quran. Both of them refer to God’s Sunnah and God’s Hadith. There is no such thing as prophet Muhammad’s Hadith or prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah. Most the Muslims fail to realize that following words other than that of God is defined in the Quran as idolatry (6:19).

[6:19] Say, “Whose testimony is the greatest?” Say, “GOD’s. He is the witness between me and you that this Quran has been inspired to me, to preach it to you and whomever it reaches. Indeed, you bear witness that there are other gods beside GOD.” Say, “I do not testify as you do; there is only one god, and I disown your idolatry.”

    • I agree with Najib’s comments.

  14. You know arabic?
Arab use this word Sunnah and Hadith in daily life without attributing it with Allah(swt).
Musa is bad boy – oops, this word is used in Quran, but wait, in my sentence Musa is name of my nephew.
You know what is difference between terminological and lexical meaning?
In Quran it is used in lexical meaning, and Sahabah(ra) and Tabaein(ra) used this term to tell that it is saying/deed of Rasool(saw).
BTW, see in Quran, Sunnah is not word used for Allah(swt) only.
    Regards,
    Humayun.

  15. Brother Humayun,
You Wrote”…….Sunnah is not word used for Allah(swt) only.”
Do you mean we should follow Allah’s Sunna and Prophet Mohammed Sunna???
Is there any GOD’s besides Allah ?????????

[68:36] What is wrong with your logic?
[68:37] Do you have another book to uphold?
[68:38] In it, do you find anything you want?

    • Man, have you ever read Quran? Word Sunnah is used many times. I was just saying that this word used in Quran is in lexical meaning and not only Allah(swt) but for others it is used, even sometimes used in positive sense and sometimes in negative sense.
When we call Sunnah as a technical word then it has certain meaning.
I gave example but still you not understood.
      Regards,
      Humayun.

  16. As per your quote Sunna means
“…….and Sahabah(ra) and Tabaein(ra) used this term to tell that it is saying/deed of Rasool(saw)”
I told you we should follow only Quran, which is the authentic sayings of Messenger of Allah.

As Deenul Islam, Prophet taught us only Quran and the enemies of Islam attributed many things as sayings/deeds of prophet.

[31:6] Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus divert others from the path of GOD without knowledge, and take it in vain. These have incurred a shameful retribution.

[6:112] We have permitted the enemies of every prophet – human and jinn devils – to inspire in each other fancy words, in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. You shall disregard them and their fabrications
